Obituary of Arthur Sanford Davis

Arthur Sanford Davis ,87, of Greensboro passed away peacefully of natural causes Monday, January 28. Born August 6, 1925 he was the son of Mary Usilla Gibson and William Arthur Davis and was a member of Church of the Holy Comforter in Burlington. Arthur (Art) served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. For his service he was awarded the Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. As an employee of Burlington Industries he worked diligently for more than 30 years retiring as Division Traffic Manager in 1987. After retirement Art enjoyed golfing with friends and travel. During leisure time it was uncommon to find him without a good book in his hands. He enjoyed reading historical works and discussing them with his sons. He loved learning and could recall almost everything about World War II and his beloved New York Giants. He was a devoted father and grandfather and never missed an opportunity to spend time with those he loved. For the past five years Art has been blessed to have been cared for by Doris Sigmon. She attended to him with love and caring. We thank her for her devotion to him and to our families. Art leaves behind 3 sons, Kyle Davis of Jacksonville Beach Fl., Bob Davis of Greensboro and Steve Davis of Colfax as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren and sisters Elna Jacobs and Joyce Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice Home at High Point 1803 Westchester Dr. High Point N.C. 27262. A graveside service will be held Thursday January 31 at 1:00 PM at Graham Memorial Park in Graham NC. Lambeth-Troxler Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements.
