Obituary of James David Gwynn
Mr. James David Gwynn, 87, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home, with the Reverend Dr. Karen Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 prior to the service.
Mr. Gwynn was born August 17, 1925, in Rockingham County, and attended Reidsville Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Upon discharge from the navy, he completed his education at Vallejo High School in California. He was a retired plant manager for E.I. DuPont and had also previously served on the Greensboro Fire Department.
Mr. Gwynn is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sylvia May Gwynn; son, David Gwynn; sister, Lillie G. Robertson; sisters-in-law, Norma M. Chilton, Charlene M. Barfield (Charles), and Mary M. York; several nieces and nephews. He is also remembered fondly by many close friends and the staff at Jake's Diner on High Point Road.
