Obituary of Dianne Woods Adkins

Mrs. Dianne Woods Adkins, 69, of Climax, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home, with the Reverend Michael Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Mrs. Adkins was born June 14, 1943, in Guilford County, to William (Bill) and Virginia (Ginny) Woods. She graduated from Bessemer High School and married her high school sweetheart, the late Captain Robret L. Adkins of the Greensboro Fire Department. She retired from Guilford County in 2008. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Adkins is survived by her daughter, Melissa Adkins Wilmoth; granddaughter Virginia Elizabeth and husband Will Thoburn, who brought great joy in her life; her sister, Susan W. Thorburn, niece Tina P. Meeks and husband Chris; brother, James T. Woods and wife Mary Ann Hall Woods; nieces Julie Woods Karnes and husband David; Jennifer Woods Chrisco and husband David, and several nieces and nephews. Dianne was known as a caregiver to people in need. She was a strong woman with a strong faith in God. She loved her family immensely and will be missed by many friends and family members. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Friday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home.
