Obituary of Gene Burleson

Mr. Gene Burleson, 71, of Brown Summit, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Salisbury. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel, with the Reverend Jerry Strader officiating. Entombment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Saturday, prior to the service. Mr. Burleson was born January 3, 1941 in Newland, North Carolina to Grover and Sylvia Phillips Burleson. He served in the US Army and retired from Burlington Industries. Mr. Burleson is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sylvia J. Burleson; children, Daniel Burleson and Rhonda Hollifield, both of Newland; step-children, Jimmy Gray (Kristi), of Franklin, Annette Gray, of Greensboro, and Ronnie Gray (Donna), of Monroe; sister, Leana Sue Anders, of Newland; brothers, Dale Burleson of Newland, and Danny Burleson, of Morganton; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
