Obituary of James Peeden

Greensboro James 'Jim' William Peeden, 77, died Saturday morning at Moses Cone Hospital. Jim was born on October 2, 1934, in Summerfield to Charlie Joseph and Ona Elizabeth Ellis Peeden. The Christian Mass will be held at St Benedict's Catholic Church on Wednesday at 12:15 pm. The interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his son John Steven Peeden; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Peeden Cox, and Charlie Jewel Peeden Goins; a brother, B.R. Peeden. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Brame Peeden; son, James W. (Susan) Peeden Jr.; daughter, Debra Peeden Reynolds; grandson, Evan Thomas (Janele Hurley) Reynolds; granddaughter, Diana Kristin Reynolds; two sisters, Cynthia Marie Peeden (Wilton) Scott, Ruth Naomi Allen; and a brother, Glenn Larry (Ruth) Peeden. A Marine for life is true with Jim who spent 26 ½ years in the Marine Corp. He was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam wars and a drill instructor at Parris Island. After his military career he retired with 22 years as an insurance adjuster for Grain Dealers. After retiring twice Jim became a Private Investigator. He was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion and David Cumming Golf Group.
