Obituary of Mary Moore

Mary Andrews Moore, 92, died early Saturday morning, February 18, 2012 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital after several years of declining health. Mary was born on January, 21 1920 and spent her entire life as a resident of Greensboro. She joined Buffalo Presbyterian Church with her father as a little girl, where she became an active member, sang in the church choir, and taught Sunday School. After attending Women's College and King's School of Business, she worked for Clarence Cone in the Cost Department of Cone Mills for 12 years. On June 20, 1947, she married D.C. Moore of Albertville Alabama. She stayed home to raise two daughters. She was a circle chairman and a youth leader at the church, a board member for the P.T.A., a Girl Scout leader and the Girl Scout Troop Coordinator for the district. For 24 years she worked full-time in the Accounting Division at Burlington Industries Corporate Headquarters in Greensboro. Following retirement, she worked part-time as a Customer Relations Teleserv Consultant for Sears. Her parents, Mack Ivey Andrews and Ebbie Lewey Andrews; husband D.C. Moore, her brother, Marshall Andrews; and her eldest daughter, Cynthia Brackett preceded her in death. She is survived by her youngest daughter Jan Moore and husband Rett Davis of Burlington, NC; six granddaughters, Robin and husband Russ Juhl of High Point, NC, Emily and husband Jon Cates of Oakville, Ontario Canada, Mary Geneva Brackett of Charlotte, NC, Allyson and husband Mark Seymour of Concord, NC, Jennifer and husband Seth Church of Hays, NC, and Candace Brackett of Mooresville, NC. She was also the proud great-grandmother of two great-granddaughters, Reilee Juhl of High Point, NC and Carleigh Cates of Oakville, Ontario, Canada; sister-in-law, Ruth Andrews, niece Kay and husband Ken Tutterow both of Greensboro. The visitation will be at Buffalo Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 1:00 pm, prior to the service at 2:00 pm conducted by Rev. Jesse Bledsoe. A graveside service will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 803 Sixteenth Street, Greensboro, NC 27405.
