Obituary of Willard Thomas

Mr. Willard E. Thomas, 87, of Greensboro, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 at White Stone Masonic Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home, with the Reverend Mark Weekley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Thomas was born November 15, 1924, in Chase City, Virginia, to Ira Dewitt and Ethel Chapman Thomas. He served in the US Army Air Corp as a flight instructor flying B29s during WW II. He was an avid general Aviationist, author and student of the 'Word'. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and co-owner/operator of Thomas Brothers Construction. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years Alice Trosper Thomas, son, Glen Thomas, two brothers, and two sisters. Mr. Thomas is survived by his currant wife Eva Moore Thomas; daughters, Debbie Lunsford, Martha Horner, and Maggie Horton (Gib); sons, Alan Thomas and Richard Thomas (Tammy); sisters, Ruth Crawford and Irene Smith; step children; grandchildren, Katie Howard, Heather Cartrette, Valeri Dalton, and Gaerith Horner and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road Ste 300, FL 32256.
