Obituary of Alvin Newsome

Kernersville-Alvin Fletcher Newsome, 59, went home to be with his Lord on February 3, 2013. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Wednesday February 6, 2013 at Kerwin Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Hawtree and Dr. Joe Myers officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. A native of Roanoke Rapids, Alvin was the son of the late Linus Marvin Newsome and Nora Edna Slagle Newsome who survives. He served his country with the US Army. He had worked with Golden State Foods for 21 years before becoming disabled. Survivors include his mother Edna Newsome of Colfax; sister Ellen Cave and Steve of Winston-Salem; brothers Wilson Newsome and Vicki of Colfax, Randy Newsome and Sabrina of Winston-Salem, Earl Newsome and Becky of Randleman, Frank Newsome and Teresa of Walkertown, and Marvin Newsome and Penny of Winston-Salem; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. The family will visit with friends from 6-8pm Tuesday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services.
