Obituary of Harvey Pitts

Biography Colfax-George Harvey Pitts, 80, went home to be with his Lord January 19, 2013. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 1:00PM Tuesday January 22, 2013 at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Smith and Rev. Frankie Matthews. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Guilford County, Harvey was the son of the late Fairmae Alice Gray and Jonah Columbus Pitts. He retired from Lorillard in Greensboro. He was a charter member of the Colfax Fire Department. He served his church in a number of capacities as well as the Superintendant of the Cemetery. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years Lala Briles Pitts of the home; daughter Elaine Lowe and Mark of High Point; sons Marvin Pitts and his wife Debra of Belews Creek, and Allen Pitts and Darlene of Greensboro; grandchildren Heather Pitts, Jay Pitts and his wife Holly, and Ryan Lowe; sisters Helen Jones, Louise Byrd, and Dovie Mae Dull; brother Gene Pitts; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. The family will visit with friends on Monday evening at the fellowship hall of Smith Grove Baptist Church from 6-8PM.
