Obituary of Ethel Cofran

Kernersville-Ethel Jane Shorter Cofran, 88, went home to be with her Lord on December 21, 2012. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Friday December 28, 2012 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Pastor Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory. A native of Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late Brooksie Minter and Joseph Oby Shorter. She was married to the late Norman Howard Cofran. She was a longtime member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and sang with the choir for a number of years. In addition to her parents and husband, she also was preceded in death by her brother John Andrew Shorter. Survivors include her sister Pauline Shorter Newman of Hillsborough; nephews Glenn Newman and Dianne of Durham, Bruce Newman and Carolyn of Hillsborough, Robert Shorter, Michael Shorter and Lee Shorter. The family will visit with friends from 1:00PM until time for the service on Friday at the church.
