Obituary of Mary Ann Flynn

Kernersville-Mary Ann Flynn, 88, died December 9, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 :00AM Thursday December 13, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Paul Dechant, O.S.F.S. officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. A native of Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Theresa Agnes Niehus and Frank Henry Kestel. She was married to the late James Patrick Flynn in 1946. They lived in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and later moved to Kernersville to retire. She loved traveling with her late husband, quilting, and mostly loved her time with her church family. She also helped with the Shepherd's Center and volunteering was a passion for her. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her sister Ethel Wesselmann, and her brothers Gildas Kestel and Carl Kestel. Survivors include her sisters Cleo Lord and Charles of Des Moines, Iowa, and Lorna Pick of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers Harold Kestel and Val of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Francis Kestel and Bonnie of New Hampton, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; and her special caregiver Jane Granger.
