Obituary of Norman Taylor

Kernersville-Norman Augustus Taylor, 81, passed away on November 28, 2012. A Gathering of his friends and family will be held Saturday December 1, 2012 from 4-6PM at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home. A native of Saltville, Virginia, “Nat” was the son of the late Virginia Gay Roberts and Howard Deward Taylor. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1957 and went to work with Raytheon in Bristol, VA that same year. He married the former Norma Annette Poore and moved to North Carolina in 1958. He immediately went to work with Western Electric as an Industrial Engineer. He retired from AT&T in 1988. He was a Charter member of Pine Knoll’s Golf Association. Everyone who played at Pine Knolls Golf Course knew Mr. Taylor as the “Mayor” of Pine Knolls. He was well respected, and loved by everyone. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years Norma P. Taylor of the home; daughter Kimberly T. Childress and son-in-law Phil of Walkertown; son Jerry Taylor of Sparta, New Jersey; granddaughter Sarah Childress; brother Eddie Taylor; and he leaves behind a host of golfing buddies who will miss him greatly.
