Obituary of Mary Virginia Barton

Biography Kernersville-Mary Virginia Parks Barton, 80, went home to be with her Lord November 24, 2012. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Wednesday November 28, 2012 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Dean and Dr. Brooks Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. A native of Grayson County, Virginia, Mary was the daughter of the late Thelma Dare Ball and Joseph Bays Parks. She was married to William Fred Barton, Sr. September 27, 1952. She taught Pre-School students at Main Street Baptist and Kernersville First Baptist Church for over 30 years. She also taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Girls in Action at Union Grove Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her sister Kay Corvin and her brother Joseph Parks. Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years William Fred Barton, Sr. of the home; daughters Patricia Parker of Winston-Salem, and Mary Darlene Fulp of Kernersville; son William Fred Barton, Jr. and Patricia of Youngsville; grandchildren William Bradley Barton and Heather, Sarah Elizabeth Barton, Ashley Jordan Fulp, and Cyrus Joseph Fulp; great-granddaughters Maggie Ann Barton and Macyn Lynette Fulp; sister-in-law Nancy Parks of Rocky Mount, VA; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will visit with friends from 6-8pm Tuesday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel.
