Obituary of Riley Ledbetter

Winston-Salem-Riley Jennings Ledbetter, 87, entered into the more immediate presence of his Savior August 19, 2012. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 6:00PM Friday evening at Friedland Moravian Church. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the church. A native of Forsyth County, R.J. was the son of the late Dorcie Hill and Riley Nathan Ledbetter. He was raised in Leicester, NC, and he later served his Country by joining the US Marine Corps. He fought in both WWII and Korea and received a Purple Heart during WWII. He was retired from Hanes Hosiery with over 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his wife Eva Alma Loggins Ledbetter who died in 2008, and sister Mary Hagan. Survivors include his daughters Michelle Kimble of Durham and Melissa Slayton and Joe of Kernersville; son Rev. Roy Ledbetter of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren Eric Dickerson and Katherine, Anna Ledbetter, Christian Ledbetter, and Natalie Slayton; great-grandchildren BreAnn Dickerson and Adrianna Dickerson.
