Obituary of Irene Robbins

Kernersville-Irene Collins Robbins died in her sleep at the age of 87 at her Kerner Ridge home. Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held 11:00AM Saturday July 21, 2012 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Cash and Rev. Phil Bauguess officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Stuart, Virginia, Irene was the daughter of the late Sarah Hester Collins and William Thomas Collins. Irene came to Winston-Salem as a young girl and worked at Hanes Hosiery for many years. She was later employed, and retired from Western Electric. Mrs. Robbins was married to the late Willard “Bill” Elijah Robbins. She was a long time member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church. Irene’s spirit surely remains in the realm of her gardening which she loved almost as much as she loved her animals. She truly loved Goldie, her golden retriever, and Kitty who were her beloved companions. In addition to her parents and husband she also was preceded in death by sisters Lois, Mary Lou, Iris, and Lucy. Survivors include her daughter Gerry Davidson and her husband Allen of Atlanta, GA, and her son Bruce Robbins and his wife Sharon of Summerfield, and her son Steve Robbins and his wife Jane of Oak Ridge. Her beloved grandchildren are Beau Robbins and his wife Tiffany, Allison Robbins, Garrett Robbins, and Zach Robbins. Her sweet great-grandchildren are Alyssa and Katie Robbins. She also had numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the church on Saturday. Friends and family may sign, and view the guestbook at www.Pierce-JeffersonFuneralService.com As an active member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church for over 60 years, Irene’s family would appreciate donations to be made to the church at 794 Sedge Garden Road, Kernersville, NC, 27284.
