Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Hawkins

Kernersville-Elizabeth Ann Stoneburner Hawkins, 90, passed away May 14, 2012. A Celebration of her life will be held 3:00PM Friday May 18, 2012 at New Covenant Fellowship, 2150 W. Ridge Road, Wytheville, VA, 24382. She was born on February 15, 1922 in Richmond, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Clara Gresham Smith and Dr. Lewis Tilghman Stoneburner. She graduated from Randolph Macon Women's College. She was a longtime member of Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, where she was involved with the Stephen's Ministry of the church. She also had taught Sunday School at the church for many years. All who knew her looked forward to her Coffee Cake she would make at Christmas. In addition to her parent's she also was preceded in death by her brothers Dr. Lewis T. Stoneburner, III, Seabury D. Stoneburner, and Richard G. Stoneburner. Survivors include her children Lynn H. Rogney, Bruce Hawkins and Susie, Judi Swaim and Ted, Lewis G. Hawkins, and Betsy McClelland and Bob; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and her brothers Frank D. Stoneburner and Dr. John M. Stoneburner; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
