Obituary of Blake Idol
Biography
Kernersville-Blake Pope Idol, 89, went home to be with her Lord March 18, 2012.
Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 11:00AM Friday March 23, 2012 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rorie and Rev. Patrick Snow officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
A native of Forsyth County, she was the daughter of the late Mamie Louise Eagleson and John Ernest Pope, Sr. She was a graduate of Sedge Garden High School Class of 1939. She was employed with the former Hanes Knitting and later with Hedgepeth Cleaners for a number of years. She had been a member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church since 1940, and was very active as long as her health would permit. She also was a member of the "Sugar Sticks" local singing group in Kernersville.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband Eddie Idol, sisters Irene Dorsett, Allie Peddycord and Gethel Watson, Faye Madden, and brothers John E. Pope, Jr., Clell Pope, and Fletcher Pope.
Survivors include her daughters Jane Idol and Steven, and Lynn Mabe and Charles all of Kernersville.
The family will visit with friends from 6-8pm Thursday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home.
