Obituary of George Cattanach

Kernersville-George Hector Cattanach, 82, passed away September 27, 2011. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. A native of Scotland, George was the son of the late Alice May Whitbread Cattanach and James Alexander Cattanach. He graduated from Schools in England where he lived his younger life. He later went two years Enfield Technical College also in England. He trained as a Coach Painter. He also served in the British Army and was stationed in Egypt, Palestine, Libya, and Malta. He moved to the US in 1957 and lived in the Boston area for nine years. He moved to NC in 1966. He was retired from Gilbarco in Greensboro following 31 years of service. Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years Gladys Rosamond Daugherty Cattanach of Kernersville; son Ian Cattanach and Leah of Winston-Salem; grandson Tyler Tilson Cattanach of Thomasville; sister Jean Pink and Mark of Scotland; sister-in-law Alice Daugherty; nephews Simon Pink and his wife, and their two children, nephew Bill Daugherty and his wife and three children; nieces Karen Thickstun and husband, Beverly Bradley and husband and two children, and Emily Donawho and her husband and child. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
