Obituary of Benjamin Blankenship

Colfax-Benjamin “Benjie” Lee Blankenship, 50, died unexpectedly August 8, 2011. Graveside Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Thursday at Main Street United Methodist Church Cemetery. A native of Guilford County, Benjie was the son of Nell McClintock Blankenship and Ben Blankenship. He was a supervisor with Southeastern Freight Lines in Colfax. He thoroughly enjoyed helping others, regardless of what it was that was needed, he was there for them. He was always the “life of the party” by making others feel special and loved. His “girls”, his wife and two daughters were the most important part of his life. His love of life was infectious, his smile, his charisma, and his heartfelt laughter will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years Anne Southard Blankenship of the home; daughters June “Bug” Blankenship and Jamie Lee Blankenship both of the home; mother and father Mr. and Mrs. Ben Blankenship of Oak Ridge; sisters Sherry Blankenship of Greensboro and Laurie Campbell and Todd of Atlanta, Georgia; brother-in-law Mike Southard and Penny of Lewisville; nieces Collette Campbell, Ashley Southard, and Kathryn Southard Lillie; nephews Reed Campbell and Cooper Southard. The family request friends to come and visit with them in an informal setting from 7-9pm Wednesday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville. Stories, fellowship, and hugs are all the family requests during this time of gathering. Friends and family are asked to sign, and view, the guestbook at www.Pierce-JeffersonFuneralService.com Because of Benjie’s love for all animals, memorial contributions may be made to Guilford County Humane Society, 4527 W.
