Obituary of Janie Vest

High Point-Janie Perkins Vest, 68, went home to be with her Lord July 23, 2011 following a gallant fight with Cancer. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 9:00AM Tuesday morning July 26, 2011 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Baker officiating. Interment services will follow at 12:30PM at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson. A native of Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Matilda Charlotte Stephens and Harvey Burnell Hickem. She was married to the late Maynard Van Perkins. She later married George M. Vest, who survives. She lived in the Triad area for most of her life. She was the owner of Guardrail of Greensboro, where her two sons continue to operate the business and will continue to do so in honor of their parents. She had attended First Christian Church until her health no longer permitted her to attend. In addition to her parents and husband, she also was preceded in death by a grandson Taylor Van Perkins. Survivors include her twin sons Todd Allen Perkins and Amber, and Tim Scott Perkins and Carri all of Oak Ridge; grandchildren Brittany Nicole Perkins, Dustin Scott Perkins, Todd Allen Perkins, Jr., Hunter Stewart Perkins, Landyn Frances Perkins, and Ava Reece Perkins; sister Mary Lou Cooper of Indiana; niece Angelique Gianakos and Steve, and nephew Scott Cooper. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the funeral home on Tuesday morning.
