Obituary of Sylvia Allen

Biography Kernersville-Sylvia Wilkins Allen, 95, went home to be with her Lord Thursday June 16, 2011. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Thursday June 23, 2011 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Saul and Rev. Matthew Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. A native of Yadkin County, Mrs. Allen was the daughter of the late Rhoda Martin and Calvin Alexander Wilkins. She was married to the late Clarence Weir Allen and was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for over 60 years. She had lived her last year in Jacksonville Beach, Florida to be near her daughter Doris. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son Bobby Clarence Allen, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Wolfe Allen, her twin sister Jewell Wilkins, and her sister Loraine Holden. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Doris Yokley and Arlen of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; grandchildren Patrick Allen and wife Heather and the Rev. Matthew Allen all of Winston-Salem, Bryan Yokley and wife Shane of Charlotte, Dr. Craig Yokley and wife Alicia of Thomasville, GA, and Denise Martin and husband Sloan of Atlanta, GA; and her dearly beloved great-grandchildren Tyler and Austin Yokley of Charlotte, Vincent, Nathan, and Samuel Yokley all of Thomasville, GA, Pruitt and Anna Kate Martin of Atlanta, GA, and Daniel and Rachel Allen of Winston-Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will visit with friends from 10:00AM until time for the service at the church on Thursday.
