Obituary of Georgia Reneau Long

Biography Kernersville -Georgia Thelma Reneau Long, 99, went home to be with her Lord February 22, 2011 with her loving family by her side. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 4:00PM Friday February 25, 2011 at Kernersville First Baptist Church with Pastor Dr. Stephen D. Martin officiating. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the church. Interment will be 1:00PM Saturday February 26, 2011 at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia and the family will visit with friends at the Love Memorial Baptist Church, also in Gastonia, from Noon until time for the service. A native of Jefferson County, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Mary Ellen Rollins and James Seaton Reneau. She also was preceded in death by her husband James Darvin Long, Sr. ,her son Rev. James D. Long, Jr., sisters Florence Reneau Bradley and Pearl Reneau Aldridge, brothers William Paul Reneau, James A. (Buss) Reneau, and Eugene Reneau. Thelma was a charter member of Love Memorial Baptist Church in Gastonia and later joined Kernersville First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was active in her church, loved to travel with her friend the late Polly Wilson, gardening, but her passion was her family. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-laws Maxine Long Hill and her late husband Ray of Gastonia, Joan(Toby) Long Bryant and Ted of Kernersville, and Ellen Long Faulk and Wayne of Lawrenceville, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law Gary Stephen Long and Lee Carpenter Long of London, England; daughter-in-law Judy Long of Chattanooga, Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
