Obituary of Betty Hester

Kernersville-Betty Joyce Lauten Hester, 75, went home to be with her Lord October 28, 2013. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 6:00PM Wednesday evening October 30, 2013 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel with Rev. Dave Cash officiating. She was born October 8, 1938, the oldest of eight children born to Vernon W. and Mary Yokley Lauten. She worked at Commercial Credit Corporation and was retired from Security Life and Trust Company. After her retirement she later worked at RCR Racing Enterprises and was an avid NASCAR racing fan. She was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church where she also had served as secretary/treasurer of the church. She loved all her animals but especially her dog, Samantha. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her sons Lewis Wayne and David Vernon Hester; her grandparents John and Bess Yokley and Will and Ida Lauten; her mother and father-in-law John Holland Hester, Sr. and Rachel Hester; her niece Terrie Lynn Worrell Sisk; and her brother-in-law Ray Welch. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years John Holland Hester, Jr. of the home; son Christopher Lee Hester and wife Teresa Ann of Kernersville; grandchildren James Michael Bennett and wife Sara, and John Holland Hester, III; great-grandchildren Ella, Ethan, and Elliott; brothers and sisters June Worrell and husband Alvin; Ronnie Lauten and wife Barbara; Lynn Welch; Brenda Luck and her husband Wayne; Jonnie Shore and her husband Mitch; Paige Deal and her husband Dwight; and Kent Lauten; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
