Obituary of Robert Cooper

Colfax-Robert Andrew Cooper, Jr., 91, passed away October 10, 2013. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 3:00PM Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church with Pastor Nate Kingsbury and Rev. Phil Kirkman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A life-long resident of Colfax, “R.A.” was the son of the late Mary A. Brown and Robert Andrew Cooper, Sr. He served his Country with the US Army during WWII. He had worked at North State Chevrolet in Greensboro, and retired following 38 years of service. He was a longtime member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church. He was a Charter member of the Colfax Fire Department and served with the department for 28 years. He was married to the late Winifred Vause Cooper, and was also preceded in death by sisters Susie Newell and Vaughn Leagan, and brothers Jack and Clifton Cooper. Survivors include his daughter Linda Cooper of Greensboro; son Roger Cooper and Lenore of Colfax; grandchildren Courtney Prosser and Cameron Cooper; great-grandson Branson Cooper; and several nieces and nephews. The family will visit with friends from 4-6PM Saturday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel.
