Obituary of Donald Owens

Kernersville-Donald Gray Owens, 76, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday August 27, 2013. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday August 29, 2013 at the Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. A native of Winston-Salem, Donald was a graduate of Gray High School and a Navy Veteran, serving near the end of the Korean conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Marion Owens and Mary Elizabeth Lewis Owens, three sisters and one brother. Survivors include his daughter Patricia "Trish" Owens Flippin and son-in-law Jerry D. Flippin of Mocksville; former wife and caring friend Helen "Pat" Reed Owens of Kernersville; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Koerner Place Apartments and a special friend and neighbor, Helen Reedy, for their care and support. The family will visit with friends from 6PM - 8PM Wednesday August 28, 2013 in the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel.
