Obituary of Virgil Parrett

Kernersville-Virgil Ray Parrett, 70, passed away on June 23, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Saturday June 29, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Paul Dechant, O.S.F.S. officiating. Entombment will be held Monday at 11:00AM at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. A native of Kentucky, Virgil was the son of the late Maggie and Earl Parrett. He served his Country with the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a Building Contractor and built numerous homes, churches, and retirement centers throughout his career. His proudest achievement was the building of the current Sanctuary of Holy Cross Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his daughter Crystal Johnson, sisters Sara, Dorothy, Mabel, and Shirley, brother James "Jim", and his great-grandson Jackson. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years Kathy Flynn Parrett of the home; children David Parrett and wife Terri of Dayton, Ohio, Tommy Parrett of Winston-Salem, and Joyce "Cricket" Brown and her son David Ray of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Thosha Chambers, Amy Stidd, Megan Johnson, Joshua Parrett, Daniel Parrett, Nikki Johnson, Priscilla Parrett, and Tommy Christian; great-grandchildren Miranda Coffee, Mikeal Hawk, Maggie Cline, and Sean Cline. The family will visit with friends from 9AM until time for the service on Saturday at the church.
