Obituary of Gilmer Flippin

Biography Kernersville-Gilmer Lee Flippin, Sr., 77, passed away March 10, 2013. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Wednesday March 13, 2013 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel. Interment will follow at 2:00PM in the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Surry County. A native of Surry County, Gilmer was the son of the late Beulah Reid and Coy Bonson Flippin. He was retired from Roadway Express following 31 years of service. Gilmer accepted Christ as his Savior on June 23, 1954. Like many others, he drifted away from God and was caught up in the World until recently he said "I want to crawl back to the life that I had when I was in God's will." In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his daughter Karen, his son Robert, sisters Mildred and Nina, and his brother Clayton. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years Geraldine "Judy" Moore Flippin of the home; sons Gilmer Lee Flippin, Jr. of the home, and Jerry Flippin and his wife Patricia of Mocksville; sister Hollie Flippin Draughn and husband Raymond of Matthews; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will visit with friends from 6-8pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
