Obituary of Jay Lamb

Kernersville-Jay W. Lamb, 87, went home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2013. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00AM Friday March 8, 2013 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel. Interment services will follow at 2:00PM in the Fisher's Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Low Gap, NC. A native of Rock Island, Illinois, Jay was the son of the late Alberta Smith and Rev. Dewey Lamb. He served his Country during WWII with the US Navy serving in Okinawa. He was a sheet metal fabricator and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #100. He later started his own business in silk screening for all the local Unions in the Washington, DC and Maryland area. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his brother Keith Lamb. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years Opal Mae Lowe Lamb of the home; daughters Dawn Lamb and Diane Khan and husband Rameez all of Kernersville, Rita Strong and Linda Gortnick both of Florida; brother Lyle Lamb of Maryland; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Isobel Lamb of Asheville.
