Obituary of Phyllis Barrow

Oak Ridge-Phyllis Ann James Barrow, 76, went home to be with her Lord on February 26, 2013. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Saturday March 2, 2013 at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville. A native of Forsyth County, she was the daughter of the late Annie and Jonas James. She was a longtime member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, an accomplished cosmetologist, devoted mother and volunteer at Oak Ridge Elementary School. Her hobby was working in the yard on her flowers and rose bushes. She will be truly missed by her husband, children, and granddaughter. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her son Max Daniel Barrow, Jr., brother Harold James and his wife Clara Lee. Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years Max Barrow of the home; sons David Barrow and his wife Betty of Stokesdale, and James Matthew Barrow and his wife Jennifer of Charlotte; granddaughter Shelby Barrow; step-daughter Maxine Shina and her husband Scott of Jamestown, NC; sister Dorothy Young of Winston-Salem; and numerous extended family. The family will visit with friends 6-8PM Friday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville.
