Obituary of Donald Rosselle

Summerfield – On September 1, 2013, Donald Sherman Rosselle departed this life and adventure to explore a new life in the realm of our eternal Father. While he did not consider his life to be special or remarkable, his family, friends, acquaintances and former business associates would all strongly disagree. Former Marine, successful corporate manager with Western Electric International, he left his mark all over the world. From South America and the Caribbean to the chaos of Iran in the wake of the fall of the Shah, Donald was able to meet the challenges of raising a family while guiding, managing and implementing corporate policies that benefited the employees of AT&T and the commercial goals of the United States. As a child of the Depression, Donald knew America’s economic challenges first hand, and they formed the basic philosophy which led him to the University of Maryland after leaving the U.S.M.C. More than this though, he leaves all of those who have known him with an intellectual vacuum that never mocked or disparaged, but only encouraged. Above all, Donald lived an honorable life and loved his family, who were with him when God called him home. Leaving nothing to chance, Donald, also known as “Bumper Parslay”, wrote his own obituary which follows: "My soul has moved on. More than seven years ago, arrangements were made to donate my seventy-five year old carriage to Wake Forest Baptist University Medical School. This, my final gift, is to allow future physicians and surgeons to learn and practice, prior to starting their medical practices. I leave Linda, the best wife anyone could imagine, a son, Curtis, his wife Jeanna and their son Jason. I leave a daughter, Heather, and her husband Hugh Irwin, and a sister, Nancy, and her husband Tom Young. I did all of the usual things like schooling, working until retirement, providing for my family and proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps. All said, it was an average life. I saw it all and enjoyed it immensely. I departed without fear, only wondering what is next, wondering if there are any more sunrises". The family will visit with friends from 3:30PM – 5:00PM Sunday September 8, 2013 in the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel.
